Corporate profile
About us
A wood-based industrial complex where nothing is wasted: offcuts from one unit feed the next, and process water is recycled.
Profile
Everything wood, end to end
Timsales manufactures plywood, fibreboard, blockboard, flush doors and sawn timber. Production units are tightly integrated, so residue from milling becomes feedstock for boards rather than waste.
The company grew out of a producers cooperative formed in the early 1930s to pool the marketing and resources of independent saw millers. Yards followed at Enterprise Rd, Industrial Area, and by the end of that decade its pricelists and grading standards were used as a common reference across the trade.
Pressure and vacuum treatment was introduced in the 1950s, making sawn timber highly resistant to insect and fungal attack and greatly extending its service life. Plywood and hardboard subsidiaries followed at Enterprise Rd, Industrial Area.
Today the head office and main yard are at Enterprise Rd, Industrial Area, with products supplied both locally and to neighbouring markets.

Environment
Re-afforestation
Replanting is the only durable answer to forest loss. Our programmes are based at Enterprise Rd, Industrial Area, raising pine and cypress seedlings at our own nursery for industrial plantations, river banks and water catchment areas.
Planting is timed to the rains for survival rates, and indigenous strips along river banks are always preserved when exotic plantations are established.
Working with government and community
Work is carried out with district and provincial forest officers, while local farmers grow subsistence crops between young trees until the canopy closes. Field staff patrol new plantings, and farmer education is run through local barazas.
Our replanting rate runs ahead of harvesting, so depleted areas are replenished on a sustained basis.
